Truck Drivers are now allowed to drive 11 hours before they must take a mandatory 10 hour sleeper berth. I know company’s put pressure on drivers in different ways to get them to lie on there log books in order get more hour out of the driver. Thus getting the driver to drive unsafe putting lives at risk. “WHAT CAN WE DO”.

Good question. When the Government decides to punish the shippers and receivers and not the driver. I drove for 16 years and never worked for an honest company. If they had to pay drivers for all the waiting time it would be different. When a driver has to wait 10 hours or more for a load without pay he has to drive to make a living. Many times the waiting time is his break so he’s driving with no rest or sleep. If a driver drove legally he would be fired or starve to death.
I THINK WE SHOULD DRIVE IT LEGAL AND NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT THEY WANT,IF THEY FIRE YOU FOR DOING YOUR JOB RIGHT THEN YOU DON’T NEED TO BE WITH THAT COMPANY.LET THEM DRIVE THE DAM TRUCK THEMSELVES AND SEE IF THEY CAN MAKE THE DELIVERS ON TIME.
Well, the reality is that if you really do drive only 11 hours you don’t make Sh*t. All “honest” companies and drivers are now either bankrupt or on unemployment. I do agree that it’s dangerous to drive tired but while you are on the road don’t you want to make as much money as possible not to waste your time away from your family? Driving legal hours would make you are much as a cab driver, maybe even less but at least they are home to see their family every night. I say if you don’t want to drive more switch to either local or find another career.
